Lessons:

There are several lessons here which preachers and teachers can use to teach God's Word to God's people.  Many newly saved people have trouble understanding what is preached because they do not know the basic doctrines which much preaching assumes that people know.  1Corinthians 14:40 says Let all things be done decently and in order.  In order to quickly help new believers to understand basic doctrines and, thereby, get more out of what is preached, it is suggested that they be taught lessons in the following order:

  1. Basics:  This is a series of lessons which teach basic doctrines at a high-level.  The same doctrines will have to be taught again in a more detailed fashion, but these lessons are designed to help people who are new to the Bible and true Bible doctrines.
  2. God:  Since God is the basis of everything which we receive, and since people teach about 'another god', God's people need to know what the Bible tells us about the true character of the God of the Bible.  There are more lessons here than can be taught in a single set.  Select some lessons to teach and about once a year return to this subject to teach God's people more on a regular basis.
  3. Church:  There are certain blessings from God that are only received by saved people who are part of a local church.  Also, people teach doctrinal error about the church.  The third series of lessons which new believers need to learn is the truth about God's church.  This doctrine is also one which should get some regular teaching.
  4. Gospel:  The basic command that God gives to the church is to do the 'Great Commission', which is to And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.  (Matthew 28:18-20).  God's people need to be taught the true basics of the Gospel, which they are to take to the world, along with soul winning (Save).  This doctrine is also one which should get some regular teaching.
  5. Personal Growth:  This is probably one of the most important doctrines which is not taught effectively in many churches.  The result is the need for special ministries, such as Addiction Programs, to help God's people.  All life grows or dies, including our spiritual life.  If God's people learn that they have a personal responsibility to grow spiritually, and that God will judge them for how much they grow spiritually, there will be less need of these specialty programs among the saved.
  6. Prophecy and Enemies  are just two of the doctrines covered here which often catch many people's interest.
  7. How to Study the Bible  is here for preachers and spiritually mature people.  It is not milk  doctrine and will cause some people difficulties in understanding.  However, once mastered, the preacher is equipped to find Bible answers to refute any doctrinal error and does not have to get an answer from other preachers.
